Greetings y’all! (It’s been a minute since my last blog post I know.)
You guys wouldn’t believe believe the absolute CIRCUS of a life I’ve been living since my last post. Lawd have mercy!!
Anyways, I have resolved to power through it all and get back to the business of trying to to rebuild and live my life the best I can.
“But Kingsley, you gorgeous half-broken specimen of a thunder god, what happened to you this time?” I hear y’all ask.
Well, I am not going to bother going into details. Decided not to write anymore about my near endless laundry list of health issues and all the maddening dominio effects that accompany them.
This is my art and life blog gaddemit and I’m gonna be writing about art and other stuff from now on. However, for the benefit of those genuinely concerned about my well-being(I thank you), here are the bullet points.
* My vision is still very wonky.
* Developed a very painful diabetic foot ulcer on my left foot.
* Ended up having to have part of my foot amputated this year. (got only 9 toes now.)
* Found out the optic nerve of my left eye atrophied , so that eye is f—kd!
* Finally accepted the fact that I can no longer paint in details like I used to on account of being permanently stuck in ‘drunk-vision’ mode.
* Got glasses to try sharpen my vision, but that didn’t work and I've decided to go get a second opinion on my eyes in the near future.
And so on and so forth!
I remember some of the lessons I used to give my students back then.
I’d say, “Kids! Sometimes it will seems like the universe itself has decided to beat you down in the name of Jesus! Life can be brutal and throw satanic curve balls in your direction. Things may happen to you that will make you question the existence of a merciful God (or whether season 8 of Game of Thrones was indeed one of the worst things to be unleashed upon mankind. At this point my money for that trophy is for it going to Dr. Who, but I digress!), But no matter what may come you ways, NEVER give in or give up. Always keep standing and moving.”
Let it never be said that I am a hypocrite!
Anyways, yeah its been hard, but….I’m still painting. (Had to adjust my methods)
Gotten more used to my impaired vision to the point I can now manange to type and work on my laptop again, and a few more practice sessions and I'm sure I will figure out a way to paint on t-shirts again. But all in due time.
I’ll keep this post short.
Just wanted to let you all know I’m still alive, and to those who appeared out of practically nowhere to come to my aid in this ridiculously tough period of my life, (My best friend, some of my highschool sibblings, former boss and a couple of former colleagues from the European school, some of my former kids and family), words can not express the depth of gratitude I feel towards you all.
I’m still standing purely by the Grace of God almighty and the kindness you have all shown towards me, because I truly was at a point where I simply could not help or do anything for myself and you all came through for me. Why you all felt I was/am worth it, only heaven knows, but I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
And when I finally pass this phase and 'finally' fulfill my destiny of becoming rich and powerful, statues in honour of all you guys shall be erected in some African village somewhere, and little children, dressed in banana leaves and funny masks, shall dance round it and sing your praises!!!! LOL!!!
Till next time!
- The Black Thunder.
Keep on keeping on no matter what. Cheers to a resilient and dedicated artist!
In blessing, may He continue to bless you Black Thunder, and show you great mercy.
Amen
